Building COVID-19 vaccine confidence for the autistic community in Florida Registration

Autistic individuals are nine-times more likely to be hospitalized from COVID-19 and six-times more likely to have longer hospitalization than non-autistic individuals. While the COVID-19 vaccines offer protection from hospitalization and death, the polarization of public opinion of the COVID-19 vaccines puts the autistic community at increased risk. In a project that explored COVID-19 vaccine counseling for autistic patients, just 10% had any documentation of any vaccine counseling and only 1.7% had any information about why it was important to get the vaccine. This course will help providers explore methods to improve discuss vaccine counseling for their autistic patients.
