Suwannee River Area Health Education Center
Suwannee River Area Health Education Center (AHEC) is a non-profit
501(c)(3) organization whose mission is to promote health and
wellness. We:
- Partner with academic institutions for the improvement of health
in underserved communities
- Implement health promotion and disease prevention programs

- Develop service learning projects for health professional
students
- Enhance access to primary care
- Increase access to health care professionals in rural areas
- Provide training opportunities for health care professionals and
health profession students
- Provide community wellness education programs
- Expose students to and recruit students into health careers
Suwannee River AHEC is governed by a Board of Directors who
represent rural communities, health care agencies, local hospitals,
clinics, schools and academic institutions in our 12-county service
area. Programming is based on health and wellness needs identified by
the local community.
