PROGRAM OVERVIEW

Cessation programs are led by Tobacco Cessation Specialists who guide participants through the quitting process. They help identify triggers and withdrawal symptoms and brainstorm ways to cope with them. Programs are evidence driven and comply with the Public Health Services Clinical Practice Guidelines for Treating Tobacco Use and Dependence. Cessation groups are hosted at local public community centers, libraries, and hospitals. SRAHEC also offers Private Workplace Cessation Groups.

2-HOUR VS. 6-WEEK GROUPS

Tools to Quit is an intense two (2) hour seminar where the participants receive information on how to prepare to pick their own quit date in order to be more successful.

Quit Smoking Now contains the same information as the 2-hour seminar, but it is delivered over a 6 week period.

Both programs offer education on the health effects related to tobacco use, the benefits of quitting and what to expect when quitting.
Both programs provide up to 4 weeks of NRT (Nicotine Replacement Therapy) if medically appropriate and while supplies last, including patches, gum, or lozenges. Program participants also receive written materials and follow up support.
